Dodgers' long list of injury updates all positive

League begins rehab; Van Slyke and Crawford resume hitting

SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on Friday provided an injury update and, with nine players on the disabled list, there was a lot to update.

Reliever Brandon League (shoulder impingement) threw a scoreless inning in his third rehab game Friday night. Joel Peralta (pinched neck nerve) came out of his Thursday rehab game healthy and will have another Saturday. Reliever Pedro Baez (pectoral strain) threw a bullpen session in Arizona Thursday and another is planned Saturday. Paco Rodriguez (elbow strain), who is traveling with the Dodgers, threw a bullpen session Friday at Petco Park.

Brandon Beachy (Tommy John surgery) threw two innings in an extended spring training game in Arizona on Thursday and tentatively will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday night with two innings for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga. With a 30-day assignment, his target return would be the All-Star break.

Scott Van Slyke (back strain) has resumed hitting and will play in at least two games of a rehab assignment next week. Carl Crawford (oblique) has begun hitting in Arizona.

Mattingly also sounded like he wants to stay away from using reliever Juan Nicasio, who left Wednesday night's game with a cracked fingernail.

Starting pitchers Brandon McCarthy (Tommy John surgery) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (left-shoulder surgery) are out for the season.
