PHOENIX -- Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias threw two innings of live batting practice on Monday and said he felt no discomfort in the area of the slight groin tightness that set him back a few days.
If Urias comes out of the workout with no setback, he's likely to make his first Cactus League appearance at the end of the week. Urias felt the earlier discomfort while throwing live batting practice last Monday, then threw a bullpen session on Friday. The club is being extra cautious with the 19-year-old prodigy.
"He's a special young man," manager Dave Roberts said after watching the workout. "His repeatability, his mechanics, for a young pitcher he's impressive. He has a sharp breaking ball, late life on his fastball. He's pretty impressive."
Pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu resumed throwing on Monday. Ryu, shut down for a week after feeling discomfort in his surgically repaired left shoulder, played light catch and figures to be several days away from throwing off a mound.

Andre Ethier did not play for the second consecutive game because of a contusion on his right hand, but he was able to take some batting practice. Roberts said Ethier's issue was probably the result of swinging the bat, which has bothered Ethier in the past. Roberts said Ethier will probably return in a day or two.
Third baseman Justin Turner was scheduled on Monday to bat in another Minor League game, which is the way the club intends to bring him back from knee surgery this spring.
Third baseman Alex Guerrero returned to workouts after missing two days with a sore knee and is likely to be the designated hitter in Tuesday's game, Roberts said.
