BP next step as Urias fights groin tightness

No throwing for Ryu as shoulder recovery inches forward

March 6th, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias, slowed by a tight groin muscle, said he expects to throw batting practice on Monday.
Urias, a 19-year-old prodigy who is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the game by MLBPipeline.com, reported discomfort after throwing batting practice on Monday. He took three days off, then threw a bullpen session on Friday. He's likely to need one more bullpen session before appearing in his first Cactus League game near the end of the coming week, putting him a week behind the rest of the staff.

Third baseman Justin Turner, being eased back into game action after offseason microfracture left knee surgery, took six at-bats as a designated hitter in a Minor League game on Saturday, manager Dave Roberts said. Turner has said he hopes to play in Cactus League games in the coming week.

Fellow third baseman Alex Guerrero, scratched from Saturday's game with a sore left knee, missed another day on the field Sunday, but Roberts said the club still believes the injury to be minor.
Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu spent another day without throwing as he rehabs slowly from last year's left shoulder surgery. Although club officials still say Ryu could return by May, the lefty hasn't thrown off a mound since experiencing discomfort on Feb. 26.
Meanwhile, right-hander Brandon McCarthy hasn't seemed to miss a day in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. His target for returning is June.
Frankie Montas, who had surgery last month to remove a rib on his right side, said he has had no discomfort since resuming throwing. The original prognosis for his return was 2-4 months. He said his throwing program at this point is exclusively to rebuild arm strength.
Josh Ravin, who broke his left (non-throwing) arm in an auto accident a week ago, returned to camp on Sunday.
