Turner activated, Triunfel optioned

ST. LOUIS -- Justin Turner returned to the Dodgers' active roster Friday, joining the club in St. Louis after missing the first half of July with a strained left hamstring.

Turner last played in the Majors on June 28 and had been on the disabled list since with the hamstring strain. The Dodgers activated him as the second half began Friday against the Cardinals, optioning infielder Carlos Triunfel to Triple-A Albuquerque.

"It's nice for us to get [Justin] back," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "He's been a guy for us that has been really good off the bench and really good when he plays. It's just another weapon for us."

Turner is hitting .302 with three homers, 10 doubles and 21 RBIs in 59 games for Los Angeles. The 29-year old appeared in two rehab games at Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday and Monday and went a combined 1-for-5 with two walks.

Triunfel, who has appeared in 11 games and hit .143 in four stints with the Dodgers this season, was with the club in St. Louis before being sent to Triple-A.
