Turner, Pederson test injuries in sim game

Third baseman could be activated Friday, when center fielder might start rehab stint

LOS ANGELES -- Third baseman could rejoin the Dodgers by Friday, and center fielder could begin a rehab assignment the same day after emerging from a Wednesday morning simulated game in solid shape.
Turner has been on the disabled list since May 19 with a strained right hamstring. Pederson has been on the DL since May 24 with a concussion and neck strain after colliding with teammate and the outfield wall.
The Dodgers brought in Minor League pitcher Tim Shibuya to throw the four innings against Turner and Pederson in the simulated game.

"It went well, I talked to both players," manager Dave Roberts said. "JT really got after it. Running around, getting dirty and sliding. I expect him to be sore, but hopefully it plays out that he'll be active on Friday. It was good to see the energy level today."
Turner said he didn't hold back.
"I hit, slid, stole bases, took more ground balls than I'll ever get in a game, ran more than I'll ever do in a game and [I] feel good right now. See how I feel tomorrow," said Turner. "I feel I can go, but I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow. I haven't run that much in four years. If the hamstring tightness is in there at all, it will probably be a few more days. But I haven't felt it at all or I would have stopped it right there and not kept going. You have to be honest with yourself, as badly as I want to come back."
Because Pederson is returning from two injuries, and because of the caution necessary in concussion cases, Roberts said the center fielder's return will be slowed with alternating days off, but a rehab stint could start Friday.
Roberts also has been clear that Pederson, who is batting .200 with two homers, needs to prove his bat is healthy, as well as his body. In his absence, infielder Chris Taylor has taken over center field.
