Maeda, hit by Michael Conforto's liner, played catch before Sunday's game.
"I expected it to be a lot worse," said manager Dave Roberts.
Trayce Thompson, removed from Saturday night's game with lower back pain, did not start Sunday, but he participated in pregame workouts and said he was available for all aspects of the game off the bench.
Carl Crawford, nursing a tight right hamstring, was available for hitting and defense, and Roberts said he would start a game in Chicago.
