Lefty Reed sparkles in Double-A outing
Left-hander Chris Reed, the Dodgers' No. 6 prospect, allowed one hit in six scoreless innings Wednesday and Double-A Chattanooga defeated Pensacola, 6-0.
Reed threw 98 pitches in his first scoreless outing of the season. He struck out seven batters, walked one and recorded his second pickoff of the season.
Reed, the 16th overall pick of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, leads the Southern League with 43 strikeouts in 43 innings this season. In seven starts, he has a 1.88 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP.
Second baseman Darnell Sweeney, the Dodgers' No. 19 prospect, led the Chattanooga offense Wednesday. He went 2-for-5 with a home run and a double. In 30 games this season, is hitting .278 with three homers.
