Dodgers option Liberatore to Minors camp

March 29th, 2016
Dodgers lefty reliever Adam Liberatore appeared in 39 games with a 4.25 ERA last season.

PHOENIX -- The Dodgers optioned left-handed reliever Adam Liberatore to Minor League camp on Monday, so if the club carries a second lefty in the bullpen, it will be Luis Avilan.
Liberatore this spring allowed three runs in nine innings for a 3.00 ERA, while Avilan has a 13.50 ERA after allowing nine runs in six innings on 13 hits, two of them homers.
Nonetheless, Avilan became a useful reliever down the stretch in 2015 after his acquisition from Atlanta and remains in the competition for the final bullpen spot, along with Yimi Garcia and fifth-starter candidate Carlos Frias. Garcia pitched Sunday for the first time in a week after experiencing soreness in his left knee.
