Dodgers option Garcia to pave way for Latos

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers optioned right-hander Yimi Garcia to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday and activated starting pitcher Mat Latos.

Latos was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade with the Marlins on Thursday and was slated to make his Dodgers debut on the mound Sunday.

Garcia has a 3.99 ERA in a team-high 41 appearances for Los Angeles this season. He was sent down to Triple-A for much of July, but was called up and fired a scoreless inning against the A's on Tuesday.

With the roster in flux around the non-waiver Trade Deadline, the Dodgers were able to keep an eight-man bullpen in recent days since the club had yet to activate Latos to the active roster. The Dodgers' bullpen owned a 6.29 ERA in July, which was the worst in the Majors.
