Hatcher the latest Dodgers arm to hit the DL

July 20th, 2016

WASHINGTON -- Another Dodgers pitcher is headed to the disabled list.
The latest hurler to go down is right-handed reliever , who strained his left oblique while pitching against the Nationals on Tuesday.
Hatcher's injury continues a disastrous few days, during which Los Angeles has placed righties and on the DL while enduring setbacks for lefties and .
Hatcher has appeared in 37 games this season, posting a 5.53 ERA in 40 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs without retiring a batter on Tuesday.
To replace Hatcher on the active roster, the Dodgers recalled infielder from Triple-A. Culberson batted .259/.286/.333 in 28 plate appearances for Los Angeles earlier this season.
With still sidelined with the stomach bug that has cost him the last two games, Culberson was in the lineup playing shortstop on Wednesday against Washington.
Manager Dave Roberts said Seager could have played if necessary but will benefit from an extra day of rest.
"With what Corey went through yesterday, and now you're looking at a night game and then we've got a [9 a.m.] game tomorrow, for me it just made sense to give him an extra day to recover," Roberts said.
