Prospect Schebler clubs three homers at Double-A

Outfielder Scott Schebler, the Dodgers' No. 9 prospect, homered in each of his first three plate appearances Tuesday, and Double-A Chattanooga defeated Jacksonville, 4-0.

Schebler hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a solo home run in the third. When he came up again in the fifth inning, he drove the ball to right-center field, but didn't clear the outfield wall. Instead, he legged out an inside-the-park home run. The Suns didn't give him a chance for a fourth home run when he came up in the seventh, intentionally walking him instead.

Schebler finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs. All three of his home runs came against Jacksonville starter Jose Urena, the Marlins' No. 9 prospect.

Corey Seager, the Dodgers' No. 1 prospect, added a single in the first inning, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. He is hitting .338/.351/.527 in 19 games since being promoted from Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga last month.

With his first career three-homer game, Schebler moved atop the Southern League's home run leaderboard with 24. He passed Cubs No. 1 prospect Kris Bryant, who hit 22 home runs in the first half before his promotion to Triple-A Iowa.

In 116 games with Chattanooga this season, Schebler is hitting .282/.365/.557. In addition to home runs, he leads the Southern League in slugging percentage and OPS.
