LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated outfielder Andre Ethier from the 60-day disabled list.
Ethier, 34, will make his first appearance of the 2016 season after being placed on the DL on April 3 (retroactive to March 25) with a broken right tibia, which he suffered during Spring Training. In 2015, he batted .294 with 20 doubles, seven triples, 14 home runs and 53 RBI in 142 games with Los Angeles. Ethier appeared in 11 rehab games with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, going 13-for-41 (.317) with four doubles, a homer and four RBI.
To create room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Casey Fien for assignment. Fien, who was claimed off waivers on May 7 from the Twins, went 0-1 with a 4.21 ERA (12 ER/25.2 IP) in 25 appearances for Los Angeles this season.
