Blanton split the 2015 season helping two teams reach the playoffs: He posted a 3.89 ERA in 15 games with the Royals, who dealt him on July 29 to the Pirates, with whom he was even more effective.
In 21 long-relief appearances for the Bucs, Blanton went 5-0 with an ERA of 1.57 and a WHIP of 1.02 in 34 1/3 innings.
