Dodgers deal Frias to Indians for cash

January 30th, 2017

The Dodgers traded right-hander to the Indians on Monday for cash considerations, the teams announced.
Frias had spent his entire career with the Dodgers, who originally signed him as a free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2007.

In three Major League seasons since his debut in 2014, Frias went 6-6 with a 4.50 ERA in 33 games, 15 of them starts. He struck out 75 batters in 114 innings.
The 27-year-old was limited to just one big league appearance for Los Angeles in 2016, as well as 10 Minor League outings, due to a right oblique injury. Friar threw four scoreless innings in relief for the Dodgers against the Padres on July 7.
Before Monday's trade, Los Angeles had designated Frias for assignment on Jan. 25 to clear space on the 40-man roster.
