Dodgers win challenge, overturning safe call

First-inning review rules D-backs' Montero out on grounder to Gordon

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly successfully challenged a play at first base in the first inning of Saturday night's game with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

With the Dodgers down, 2-0, second baseman Dee Gordon ranged to his right to field a ground ball off the bat of Miguel Montero. The initial ruling was that Gordon's throw pulled first baseman Adrian Gonzalez off the base before recording the out.

The review, which lasted 53 seconds, resulted in the overturning of the call, and Montero was ruled out for the second out of the inning.
