LOS ANGELES -- Rich Hill's season-high eight strikeouts and home runs from Yasiel Puig and two from Yasmani Grandal powered the Dodgers to an 8-2 win against the Mets on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, as Los Angeles moved back into first place in the National League West.
Hill (4-3) worked through five innings, tossing 98 pitches and holding the Mets to four hits. The southpaw also provided his own run support with a sacrifice fly in the third. Curtis Granderson was able to capitalize off a fastball Hill left over the plate to start the game, taking him deep for homer, but the Mets' bats were mostly silent for the rest of the game. Grandson added an RBI double in the ninth.

"If you look at the 6-7-8 [hitters] tonight," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, "those guys picked up the rest of the lineup tonight with some homers and guys coming out of the 'pen, Rich [Hill] set the tone, it was good."
Mets starter Tyler Pill got through three innings before the Mets ran into trouble in the fourth. After Dodgers rookie Cody Bellinger ripped a double to right field, Jay Bruce put a little too much on his relay throw to second, with the ball ending up near the Dodgers dugout, and Bellinger was able to run over to third on the throwing error.

John Forsythe brought Bellinger home with an RBI double to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead, and after getting out Grandal and walking Joc Pederson, Pill made his biggest mistake of the evening. On a 3-1 count, Puig deposited a 91 mph sinker from Pill into the left-field stands giving the Dodgers a 5-1 advantage. As he took slow trot around the bases, Puig exchanged words with Mets first baseman Wilmer Flores.
Between innings, Puig talked on the field with Yoenis Cespedes and Jose Reyes.

"Obviously, sometimes you're going to get pitched around to get to you," Roberts said. "I think that's what Yasiel [Puig] does, he's not the only player in baseball that takes a little bit longer to admire home runs and he got a good piece of it. I know he did not mean any disrespect."
"I don't think he knows what having respect for the game is," Flores countered. "We're playing horrible right now. We don't need his [expletive]."

Grandal recorded his eighth career multi-homer game with a solo shot in the sixth and another solo shot in the eighth. The Dodgers extended their win streak to six games and have now won 12 of their last 13 games.

Pulling ahead:The Dodgers did most of their damage in the fourth, capped off with a three-run homer by Puig to give the Dodgers a 5-1 lead. "I'm a big fan of running the bases when you hit a home run," Bruce said. "Some people feel differently about it."
Coming up clutch: The Mets were able to put together a scoring threat in the fourth, after Hill issued a walk to Bruce and a single to Travis d'Arnaud and a fielding error by Chase Utley loaded the bases with no outs. But the Mets saw that opportunity go to waste, as Hill struck out the next three batters to escape the inning.
