Mattingly discusses expectations in Q&A

April 3rd, 2016

MIAMI -- From Day 1 of Spring Training, Marlins manager Don Mattingly stressed the importance of sticking to "the process." For a club coming off a 91-loss season in 2015, the message rang loud and clear.
"He set the tone, and he kind of kept it going the whole time," veteran infielder Chris Johnson said. "Even up to our [last Spring Training] meeting, he's talking about your role and making sure you're not the guy that lets the team down. That's our mentality."
Mattingly has made it clear to his players that he will have their backs if they work hard.
"Work hard," Johnson said. "I think that's his No. 1 thing, work hard."
In an interview with MLB.com, Mattingly discussed his team's process.
