For the first time in MLB postseason history, the American League Division Series will have an official sponsor.
Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday it has formed a multiyear partnership with Doosan, a global leader in infrastructure support business, which will give the Korean brand U.S. marketing integration and exposure during the postseason.
Doosan's first commercials as part of the agreement will air during the Wild Card Games next Tuesday and Wednesday, and they will continue beyond the ALDS into next season among various MLB-owned channels. Doosan will also give fans exclusive looks into ALDS batting practices and news conferences in real time through Facebook Live. And, according to an MLB news release, Doosan and MLB will create custom features for MLB Network and league digital channels in the postseason and beyond.
"We're very proud that Doosan, a great company with a rich history and a global footprint, has chosen MLB as a partner to continue growing their business here in the U.S.," said Noah Garden, MLB executive vice president of business. "It's going to be another exciting postseason this year, and we're looking forward to having Doosan be a big part of it."
Doosan has subsidiaries that reside in the U.S., which house roughly 4,000 employees and accounts for $3 billion in revenue.
