MILWAUKEE -- Cory Melvin, the son of former Brewers GM Doug Melvin who served as one of Milwaukee's pro scouts for the past seven seasons, has left the organization for a similar job with the Yankees.
The younger Melvin began his new job about two weeks ago, sources said. He lives in Tampa near the Yankees' Spring Training home.
Separate from Melvin's departure, multiple sources have said the Brewers' scouting department is undergoing some staffing changes. Brewers general manager David Stearns declined to comment until the changes are finalized.
Doug Melvin is nearing the end of the first year of what is believed to be a two-year contract as a senior advisor to Stearns, who succeeded Melvin following the 2015 season.
