PITTSBURGH -- Maintaining their quick pace of securing their recent Draft selections, the Giants on Wednesday announced the signing of their second-round pick, Vanderbilt University center fielder Bryan Reynolds.
Losing their first-round choice as compensation for signing free-agent right-hander Jeff Samardzija in the offseason, the Giants nevertheless obtained what they considered to be a first-round-worthy talent in Reynolds.
Jim Callis of MLBPipeline.com reported Reynolds received a $1.35 million bonus, $260,000 more than the slotted amount for the No. 59 selection.

San Francisco has signed 25 of its 39 Draft picks in approximately two weeks, including eight of the first nine. The highest-selected unsigned Giants draftee is seventh-rounder Garrett Williams, a left-hander from Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Reynolds hit .330 with 32 extra-base hits and 57 RBIs in 62 games this season as a junior for Vanderbilt. He finished second in the Southeastern Conference in home runs (13) and walks (49), third in runs scored (59), total bases (135) and slugging percentage (.603) and fifth in on-base percentage (.461).
Reynolds represents part of the cluster of players the Giants have drafted from Vanderbilt. Their top pitching prospect, right-hander Tyler Beede, and their 11th-rounder this year, catcher Jason Delay, hail from the same school.
