PHOENIX -- Eddie Butler threw four innings of one-hit ball in the Cubs' 4-0 win over the Dodgers on Thursday in a rematch of last year's National League Championship Series.
Butler, acquired from the Rockies in February, is one of the starters the Cubs are looking at for insurance in case something happens to any of their starting five. He's projected to open the season at Triple-A Iowa.
Chris Taylor legged out a third-inning double on a ground ball to center field for the lone hit off Butler. That was the only Dodgers hit until Austin Barnes doubled in the eighth.

Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu, being handled cautiously after two years of injuries, threw three innings and allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts. He is a longshot to make the rotation when the season starts.

"From where he was at last year, I'm not necessarily surprised. We were always hopeful, but we didn't know what to expect," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Ryu. "But he came into camp in really good shape and he's not protecting his arm, he's letting it go every pitch. The sharpness of his pitches have been consistent."

Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was ejected by plate umpire Tom Woodring in the seventh inning when he slammed his bat after being called out on strikes for the second time.
Matthew Szczur's single plated Chicago's first run in the first inning, and Bijan Rademacher, Chris Dominguez and Jacob Hannemann each hit RBI doubles late in the game.

Cubs Up Next:Duane Underwood Jr. will make his first spring appearance when he starts on Friday for the Cubs against the White Sox. The right-hander was the Cubs' second round pick in the 2012 Draft, and he spent most of last season at Double-A Tennessee, where he compiled a 4.91 ERA.
