Edinson Volquez will drop appeal of suspension; begin serving tonight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 27, 2015) - Kansas City Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez announced today that he is dropping the appeal of his five-game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball on Saturday and will begin serving it with tonight's 5:10 p.m. CT contest against the Cleveland Indians. Volquez was one of four Royals players to receive a suspension after an on-field incident at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field last Thursday.

Volquez will be eligible to return to action on Saturday, May 2, when the Royals play the Detroit Tigers at 6:10 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium.
