Source: E-Rod advised to rest 3-4 weeks

Red Sox left-hander has been advised to rest his injured right knee three to four weeks, a baseball source told MLB.com's Ian Browne.
Renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews found no ligament damage and gave the recommendation that Rodriguez take the rest to heal his right knee subluxation rather than opt for surgery. CSNNE.com was first to report Andrews' recommendation, but the team has not confirmed it.
Rodriguez landed on the 10-day disabled list on Friday, the day after his worst start of the season. He slipped and fell prior to the game against the Orioles while throwing on flat ground, but he felt fine to pitch, eventually giving up seven earned runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Rodriguez was in the midst of a breakout season and had been one of Boston's more consistent starters, with a 3.54 ERA in 61 innings over 10 starts.
Surgery is still a possibility down the line for Rodriguez, which would likely shelve him for five to six months. Aggravating the injury would cause further concern, and Rodriguez had the same injury in Spring Training 2016.
In the meantime, Boston's rotation has been buoyed by the return of , who threw seven innings of one-run ball on Saturday. The Red Sox are hoping to finally have their rotation completely healthy by the All-Star break.
