Gettys gets two hits in Class A Lake Elsinore debut

Austin Hedges homered for a third straight game at Triple-A El Paso, Michael Gettys had two hits in his first game at high Class A Lake Elsinore, and 10th-round pick Boomer White had four hits in his second professional game in the Padres farm system.
For the first time this year, all seven minor league teams in the Padres system were in action. Meanwhile, eight players, including Gettys, moved in the system.
Gettys, 20, the Padres second-round pick in the 2014 Draft, was advanced from low Class A Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore one day after starting in the Midwest League All-Star Game.
Other moves Thursday:
Infielder Taylor Lindsey and catcher Miguel Del Castillo advanced from Double-A San Antonio to El Paso. Catcher A.J. Kennedy joined Gettys in moving from Fort Wayne to Lake Elsinore. Outfielder Alan Garcia and catcher Marcus Greene moved from short-season Class A Tri-City to Fort Wayne.
Catcher Rocky Gale and infielder Felipe Blanco were transferred from El Paso to San Antonio.
Hedges (.366) was 2-for-2 with his seventh homer -- his sixth in the last eight games - and two runs scored with a walk and hit-by-pitcher as El Paso (42-31) dropped a 10-5 decision to Salt Lake in the west Texas city.
Second baseman Carlos Asuaje (.328) was 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. Center fielder Manuel Margot (.296) was 2-for-5 with his 21st steal.
Starting left-hander Frank Garces (1-3, 4.47 earned run average) allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings to suffer the loss. Right-hander Derek Eitel (6.75 ERA) allowed a hit with a strikeout in two scoreless innings. Right-hander Michael Dimock (5.14) allowed three runs on two hits and a walk with a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (1-2, 23-50) - MIDLAND 9, MISSIONS 6: RF Nick Schulz (.296) extended his hitting streak to 11 straight games, going 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. First baseman Luis Tejada was 2-for-2 with two walks, a RBI and a run scored in his Double-A debut. LF Nick Torres (.305) was 2-for-4 with a walk. C Rocky Gale (.233) was 0-for-2 with three walks and a run scored. Starting RHP T.J. Weir (2-3, 7.92 ERA) allowed nine runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. RHP Tayron Guerrero (2.25) allowed a hit with a walk in two scoreless innings. RHP Rafael De Paula (2.61) struck out two in a perfect inning.
HIGH CLASS A LAKE ELSINORE (0-1, 32-39) - LANCASTER 8, LAKE ELSINORE 7 (10 innings): 3B Josh VanMeter (.289) was 2-for-3 with his 10th homer, three walks and three runs scored. CF Michael Gettys was 2-for-5 with a double, a RBI and a run scored in his California League debut. RF Franmil Reyes (.237) was 2-for-5 with a RBI. Starting RHP Walker Lockett (3.95) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in four innings. RHP Ben Paullus (3.38) allowed a run on two hits and a walk with a strikeout in an inning. LHP Brad Wieck (1.69) walked two and struck out three in two hitless, scoreless innings. RHP Trey Wingenter (3.38) issued a walk with a strikeout in an otherwise perfect inning.
