Encarnacion returns to lineup as DH

TORONTO -- A day after Adam Lind and J.P. Arencibia were given the OK to return to the Blue Jays lineup, the club received their final reinforcement for its series finale vs. the Tigers on Thursday.

Edwin Encarnacion started as the team's designated hitter after dealing with left hamstring issues that kept him out of the lineup the last three games.

"He's good enough to play," manager John Gibbons said. "We still want him to be cautious when he's running around, but he's good to go."

The Blue Jays took things slow with Encarnacion's ailment, and would only let him back in the lineup if they believed they weren't risking him aggravating it in some way.

"If we were [concerned] we'd give him another day or two," Gibbons said.
