Inciarte headed to DL with hamstring strain

ANAHEIM -- The D-backs will place outfielder Ender Inciarte on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday after he suffered a strained right hamstring in the first inning of Monday night's 7-3 win over the Angels.

Inciarte hit a grounder to the hole at second that first baseman Albert Pujols dove for and snared. Pujols threw to pitcher Jered Weaver covering first for the out. Just before Inciarte hit the bag, he grabbed the hamstring.

"We don't think it's really bad," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "But his legs are so important to us that we want him to be 100 percent coming back. It's not something we want him to try to push and come back in two or three days."

The D-backs will call up someone from the Minors on Tuesday.

Cliff Pennington, who had never played the outfield before, replaced Inciarte.
