The Twins reinstated Ervin Santana from the disabled list Friday, pegging the right-hander to start Saturday for the first time since April 19. Santana started Opening Day for Minnesota and pitched to a 3.15 ERA over his first four starts before a back strain forced him out of the rotation. Catcher John Ryan Murphy was optioned to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move.
Minnesota also selected the contracts of outfielder Darin Mastroianni and catcher Juan Centeno from Triple-A Rochester. Mastroianni appeared in 114 games for the Twins from 2012-14, posting a .222/.291/.297 slash line in a reserve role. He split the 2015 season between the Nationals' and Phillies' systems.
Centeno appeared in 24 games over the last three seasons with the Mets and Brewers. He went 1-for-21 in a 10-game cameo with Milwaukee last season.
The Twins designated left-handed pitcher Ryan O'Rourke and right-handed pitcher J.R. Graham for assignment to make room for Centeno and Mastroianni. O'Rourke had a 4.91 ERA over 7 1/3 innings this season, while Graham posted a 10.80 ERA in just 1 2/3 innings.
