Gattis' early homer sets stage for Verlander

ANAHEIM -- Evan Gattis drilled a 389-foot homer in the second inning to help the Astros earn a 2-0 victory over the Angels at Angel Stadium on Wednesday. It was his third home run in his last five games.
Gattis was given the opportunity after reached on a fielding error by third baseman Zack Cozart with two outs. Two pitches later, Gattis roped his fourth home run of the season.
With getting the start in the rubber game of the series, the Astros are trying to protect a one-game lead over the Angels in the American League West.
Before going 0-for-4 against the Angels on Tuesday, Gattis had a season-long six game hitting streak in which he hit .350 (7-for-20) with two homers, four RBIs and a 1.081 OPS.
