Fan of 1,000 Chops

When I first fell in love with baseball and the Atlanta Braves as an eight-year-old kid, one of the things I loved the most was watching fans on TV do the Chop. I couldn’t get enough of it. The Chop music would crank up and the camera would pan across the stands as thousands of fans stood in unison chopping their foam tomahawks.

Let’s face it: if you are a Braves fan, you have to love doing the Chop. Being a Braves fan and not liking the Chop would be like being a Magnum PI fan and hating mustaches.

The Braves recently launched their Fan of 1,000 Chops campaign in which fans are encouraged to send in pictures and video of their most creative Chops. In order to help kick off this campaign, my fellow Cave Dweller/Braves fan Shaun Kippins and I made this video in front of the CaveMonster on Jackie Robinson Day after the Braves completed their sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers:

And how about this video sent in by @scottwoodall33 of his two-year-old doing the Chop?

Seriously, that is the cutest thing I have seen all day (well, other than Ricardo Marquez dancing with no music. Sometimes you just have to dance, I guess).

Now we want to see your most creative Chops! Tweet them to the @Braves, @RickyMast, @SkippinsYNN and @MLBFanCave and be sure to use the hashtag #1000Chops. Also, check out the official Fan of 1000 Chops page on the Braves' website.
