February 17th, 2018

While owners don't want to be ruled by their hearts on draft day, separating fantasy interests from a longstanding allegiance to your favorite team is a difficult exercise.
But for National League fans, this team-by-team guide can help you stay true to your hometown club and make a smart fantasy pick.
Mets
is not only one of the Mets' lineup anchors, but he is also one of the safest power sources in the middle rounds of 2018 drafts. During his career, the veteran has produced at least 30 home runs and 95 RBIs five times in 10 seasons.

Nationals
Many fantasy owners may be quick to forget 's impressive start with Washington last season, as the outfielder played just 23 games before sustaining a torn ACL in his left knee. Nats fans can take advantage of that and grab the multidimensional veteran with a mid-round pick.

Braves
After enjoying a stellar big league debut (.810 OPS) last year, has the potential to provide Braves fans with 15 homers and 25 steals in his first full season.
Yahoo ADP: Pick 204
Phillies
Phillies fans are likely already eager to see what burgeoning star will do for an encore after going deep 18 times in 50 games during his rookie year. By selecting him with an early-round pick, the Philadelphia faithful can make the payoff even sweeter.

Marlins
Though Dan Straily posted an unremarkable 4.26 ERA during his first season with the Marlins, he used his fly-ball-heavy profile to enjoy consistent success over 17 starts at Miami's pitcher-friendly home park (3.57 ERA, 12 QS at home). For a small investment, Marlins fans can acquire the righty and maximize his value by being selective in deploying him for road starts.

Cubs
has posted lifetime ratios (2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) befitting an ace, but he'll likely still be available long after the top-tier hurlers come off the board. Cubs fans in mixed leagues should be thrilled to grab the righty as their No. 2 starter and watch him take the mound for their favorite club every fifth day.

Cardinals
Tommy Pham was one of last year's biggest breakout players, finishing as one of three men -- along with and -- to hit .300 with at least 20 homers and 20 steals. Cardinals fans should be ecstatic to acquire Pham at his current draft cost considering his potential to be a five-category stud in '18.

Pirates
Pirates supporters should know better than anyone that is knocking on the door to be a top-tier closer. The lefty was outstanding in '17, combining strong strikeout skills (10.5 K/9 rate) with plus control (2.4 BB/9 rate) and a lofty ground-ball rate (52.9 percent) while registering a 1.67 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP.

Reds
Already one of the most skilled stoppers in baseball, could deliver a 40-save season if Cincinnati's young rotation candidates take a step forward this year. For the cost of a mid-round selection, Reds fans will have an additional reason to be excited when Iglesias closes out victories in '18.
Yahoo ADP: Pick 129
Brewers
Brewers fans have watched pace the club's lineup with his multifaceted skill set for more than a decade. Though the veteran is a somewhat risky pick after posting the second-lowest average (.268) and OPS (.823) of his career while playing just 104 games last season, the Milwaukee faithful can acquire him at a discount and reap the rewards if he can return to his production level from '16 (.305, 30 homers, 16 steals over 135 games).

Dodgers
has had an unpredictable career, but the time has arrived for Dodgers fans to trust him as a fantasy asset. The outfielder posted career-best marks in homers (28), RBIs (74), steals (15) and BB/K ratio (0.64) last year, and he should experience improved batted-ball fortune in '18 (.274 BABIP in '17).
Yahoo ADP: Pick 121
D-backs
While many fantasy owners view as a regression candidate, D-backs supporters have watched him more closely than most and saw him pair terrific swing-and-miss stuff (9.6 K/9 rate) with a lofty ground-ball rate (55.3 percent) in '17. Using said skills, the 27-year-old could provide substantial value in exchange for a mid-round pick this year.
Yahoo ADP: Pick 135
Rockies
The Colorado faithful has been waiting a long time for a true ace to come along and conquer Coors Field, and is arguably the most talented starter the organization has ever developed. The righty offers major breakout potential if he can stay healthy in '18.

Padres
Padres fans have watched Brad Hand blossom into one of the best relievers in baseball over the past two seasons (2.56 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) and should trust him to be a top 10 fantasy closer during his first full season as San Diego's ninth-inning man.
Yahoo ADP: Pick 119
Giants
After logging a 2.73 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP from '11-16, took a major step back (4.52 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) during a '17 season in which he dealt with blister problems and a strained forearm flexor tendon. Given his track record, the righty deserves another chance from Giants fans who know that a bounce-back year could spur a dramatic turnaround in the standings for the club.
