Five Dodgers among Gold Glove Award finalists
Uribe, Greinke, Gonzalez, Mark Ellis, A.J. Ellis could pick up defensive hardware
LOS ANGELES -- Five Dodgers were named finalists Friday for Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, including third baseman Juan Uribe, who resurrected his career and wasn't a starter until June.
In addition to Uribe, Dodgers finalists are pitcher Zack Greinke, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, second baseman Mark Ellis and catcher A.J. Ellis.
The winners will be revealed Tuesday at 5 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
Uribe, who took over at third base for Luis Cruz, committed only five errors in 900 1/3 innings for a career-high .983 fielding percentage at third.
Greinke, who missed a month with a broken collarbone, was errorless for the third consecutive season. He has committed only four errors in his career.
Gonzalez, a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, was nominated despite committing a career-high 11 errors, with most occuring during the first half of the season when he played through a badly sprained neck.
Mark Ellis committed six errors, the most since his first full season in 2003, but remains one of the smoothest double-play pivotmen in the game.
A.J. Ellis, in just his second full season as a starter, committed only three errors with a .997 fielding percentage. He was second in the league with a 44.4 percent caught-stealing percentage.
