BRADENTON, Fla. -- Pirates catcher returned to workouts on Tuesday after sitting out the previous two days with right foot discomfort.
The 30-year-old Cervelli, who was limited to 101 games last season with a fracture in his left hand, was excused from Sunday's workout at the Pirate City complex after feeling some pain on the bottom of his foot while running.

"Much better," Cervelli said after completing his workout. "I went outside. I threw, I hit [batting practice] in the cage. Moving forward."
Cervelli said he doesn't believe the minor issue will prevent him from playing in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, where he is slated to be Team Italy's starting catcher. But he admitted he will have to feel "100 percent to go there."

"I just follow [head athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk]. Whenever he tells me I'm ready, I'm ready," Cervelli said. "I'm just a player. They went to school and they know more than I do. I have to follow orders."
Starting time
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle announced the team's starting pitchers for Saturday's split-squad Grapefruit League openers. Left-hander is scheduled to start at home against the Orioles at LECOM Park, while righty Josh Lindblom will get the nod against the Rays in Port Charlotte, Fla. Both will toss one inning, Hurdle said.
Brault, 24, appeared in eight games (seven starts) with the Bucs last season, going 0-3 with a 4.86 ERA. Lindblom has not appeared in the Majors since making one start -- a no-decision -- with the Athletics in April 2014.
