SAN DIEGO -- Blue Jays Minor League right-hander Francisco Rios was rewarded for his strong start to the season with a spot on the World Team at this year's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Games in San Diego.
Rios is not ranked amongst Toronto's Top 30 prospects by MLBPipeline.com, but he has garnered some attention after a string of solid outings for Class A Dunedin. The native of Mexico is 3-3 with a 2.63 ERA while striking out 34 over 51 1/3 innings.
Left-handed pitching prospect Angel Perdomo was also added to the Futures Game roster on Thursday, joining Rios as a member of the World Team. Perdomo is replacing Mariners right-hander Dylan Unsworth, who will not play due to injury. 
The World Team beat the U.S. Team, 11-3, to win the heralded prospect exhibition for the first time in seven years.

Perdomo, who is ranked 23rd among Toronto's Top 30 Prospects by MLBPipeline.com, has a 2.48 ERA this season in 14 games, 12 of them starts, for Class A Lansing. The 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic has struck out 87 batters in 65 1/3 innings.
In his Futures Game appearance, the southpaw surrendered two runs on two hits -- doubles by Alex Bregman and Clint Frazier -- and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Coming in to relief Perdomo with two outs in the third, Rios allowed one run on three hits -- including a homer to Baltimore prospect Chance Sisco -- in 1 1/3 innings. He also gave up a stolen base in his appearance, which saw him toss 25 pitches (16 for strikes).  
Rios began the year with low Class A Lansing and allowed just four earned runs in 30 innings. The 21-year-old struck out 43 and walked eight in six starts for the Lugnuts, and the impressive numbers justified an early promotion to the next level.

Rios has been with the Blue Jays' organization since 2012, when he signed as an international free agent. He has a career record of 15-17 with a 3.96 ERA, and this marks his first stint with a full-season Minor League team. Rios has the ability to hit 93-94 mph with his sinking fastball, while his best secondary pitch is a hard slider that acts as a primary strikeout weapon.
