Big Hurt leads White Sox Franchise Four balloting

CHICAGO -- Frank Thomas is considered the greatest hitter in White Sox history, not to mention becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer last year. So it's easy to understand how the Big Hurt also checks in at No. 1 among the voting for the White Sox Franchise Four, a campaign that allows fans to vote for the most impactful players who best represent each Major League franchise.

Thomas holds a lead over Paul Konerko among the eight White Sox candidates. The late Minnie Minoso ranks third, followed by Harold Baines, per voting released on Wednesday.

Others on the ballot receiving votes are Luis Aparicio, Luke Appling, Eddie Collins and Nellie Fox. Jim Thome, who currently is part of the White Sox front office after playing for the South Siders, sits second in the Indians voting.

More than 11.8 million votes have been cast in the Franchise Four voting, and you can cast your ballot here. Voting ends on May 8, and winners from all 30 clubs will be announced at the 2015 All-Star Game, which will take place on July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
