CLEVELAND -- Todd Frazier doesn't seem worried about his slow start to the 2017 season.
Going into Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the the Indians, Frazier was 1-for-17 on the year, but he found some success early against Carlos Carrasco. Frazier doubled in his first at-bat and followed with a solo home run to left field in his next time up.
Before Tuesday, the White Sox third baseman had hit into some tough luck, with a Saturday lineout in the third inning against the Twins, featuring an 81 percent hit probability per Statcast™, as one example. But Frazier also has shown patience at the plate in the midst of adversity, walking four times against two strikeouts.
"Nobody wants to go through any kind of slumps or any time when we don't get any hits," Frazier said. "But I've got a good amount of walks for the games we have played.
"I'm seeing a lot of pitches. You have to take some plusses off of what I've been doing. I'm not striking out that much. It's frustrating, but at the same time I feel pretty good."
Frazier pointed out that batting practice is the time to focus on making adjustments in regard to getting out too far ahead of pitches or getting under too many, although fly balls are part of the game for a 40-home run hitter.
"When you step in the game, you are not really focused on the swing path or how fast you are swinging through the zone," Frazier said. "It's basically going up with a plan and hopefully succeeding in that plan you are having."
"It's just right now him getting in time and sync," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "Getting a feel for how opponents are working him. He's a guy who hit 40 homers last year and everyone is trying to be very careful with him. It's one of those things he has to battle through."
Rodon stays on program
Carlos Rodon, who started the season on the disabled list due to bursitis in his left biceps, has yet to throw off a mound during his throwing program. The southpaw will continue to work out in Arizona, and he will be re-evaluated after the White Sox nine-game road trip.

"He's moving along positively since we've had to make the adjustment with him," Renteria said. "He's feeling good. Again, we'll just re-evaluate him when we get back home and see where he's at."
The White Sox already have spoken about erring on the side of caution in terms of Rodon's work back toward the Majors.

• Triple-A Charlotte outfielder Willy Garcia was named International League Player of the Week for April 6-9 after hitting .533 with two home runs, four RBIs and nine runs scored. He also drew six walks for a .667 on-base percentage.
