Halos-Sox rained out; Saturday twin bill set

BOSTON -- Inclement weather forced a postponement of Friday's series opener between the Angels and Red Sox at Fenway Park and prompted a split doubleheader on Saturday.

The rescheduled game will start at 10:05 a.m. PT, followed by the regularly scheduled contest at 4:15 p.m. The Angels will keep their rotation schedule the same, with Tommy Hanson starting Game 1 (opposite Felix Doubront) and C.J. Wilson taking the ball for Game 2 (against Clay Buchholz). Joe Blanton is starting Sunday, at 10:35 a.m., against Ryan Dempster.

The doubleheader will prompt the Angels to require a sixth starter on Wednesday, prior to the Thursday off-day. The likely candidate is Jerome Williams, who was moved back to the bullpen earlier this week despite sporting a 2.15 ERA in his last five starts.

Outfielder and first baseman Brad Hawpe is expected to be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Saturday's game as the corresponding move to reliever Dane De La Rosa being optioned on Wednesday, thus bringing the Angels back to 13 position players and 12 pitchers.
