FSSW, Texas Rangers to host 9/11 military appreciation benefit

FOX Sports Southwest and the Texas Rangers will host a Military Appreciation Night on September 11 that will include a live auction during the Cleveland Indians-Texas Rangers telecast at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.

FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke made the announcement on Monday’s Rangers telecast.

Fans will have an opportunity during the September 11 telecast to bid on several one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment packages provided by FOX Sports Southwest and participating sponsors. Proceeds from the in-game benefit will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization that raises awareness and facilitates programs and services for injured soldiers of the United States Armed Forces.

The online auction will be part of the RANGERS LIVE pregame show at 6:30 p.m. and the game broadcast at 7 p.m. and will be hosted by John Rhadigan. He’ll provide updates throughout the night from the Captain Morgan Club at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Fans may link to the online auction by visiting www.foxsportssouthwest.com.

Packages to be bid on during the live telecast will include unique game day experiences from Dallas-Fort Worth professional sports teams, a trip to Los Angeles to watch the FOX NFL SUNDAY pregame game show and meet the cast, and a chance to join the FOX Sports Southwest Girls for a FOX College Football tailgate party. A complete list of packages will be announced prior to the auction.

Limited edition FOX Sports Southwest/Wounded Warrior Project military dog tags also will be available for a cash donation level to be revealed on the telecast.

The telecast also will feature pregame ceremonies the Rangers have planned that night to honor the military and support the Wounded Warrior Project.

An oversized American Flag will be unfurled in the outfield. Members of the United States Air Force Color guard will present the colors. The National Anthem and God Bless America will be performed by an Air Force Quintet and Air Force Band member. A wounded warrior will then throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Wound warriors in attendance also will be featured in the live broadcast.

FOX Sports Southwest and the Rangers are offering fans a special ticket offer to attend the September 11 game in honor of those who serve in the U.S. Military. Fans can purchase upper reserved seats for $11 at www.texasrangers.com by entering coupon code “Freedom.”
