Garcia hitting his stride in tenure with Sox

Outfielder owns .341 average after first 11 games since Deadline deal

KANSAS CITY -- The early returns on the Avisail Garcia non-waiver Trade Deadline deal continue to be encouraging for the White Sox. Garcia had a career-high three hits against the Royals in Tuesday night's 2-0 win -- leaving Garcia with a .341 batting average through his first 11 games with Chicago.

"He's a kid that wants to get better," manager Robin Ventura said.

Garcia's approach thus far has been staying in the middle of the field or going the other way. As he matures, Ventura projects Garcia as a hitter who will be able to pull the ball with power.

"Eventually, he'll get there," Ventura said. "The more he plays and the more experience he gets, he'll be able to do that naturally. He has a lot of ability and he's ahead of the game right now."
