Even though Giancarlo Stanton indeed has cleared revocable waivers, the chances are extremely remote that the slugger will be dealt before the Aug. 31 postseason-roster deadline.
The Marlins are not believed to be discussing even the possibility of trading Stanton, the Major League home run leader with 43, or any of their controllable core players, before the end of the month.
Those players also include Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, J.T. Realmuto and a few others.

Stanton cleared revocable waivers on Sunday, according to a report by Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan. That allows the Marlins to deal the slugger to any club through the end of August. Stanton has 10 years and $295 million remaining on the contract he signed in November 2014. However, according to Passan, that figure is not driving teams away from looking to acquire one of baseball's premier home run hitters.
Sources told Passan "at least four teams" have looked into the possibility of trading for Stanton, who was perhaps closer to being dealt prior to the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline than initially thought.
Passan reported that a trade including Stanton "progressed to the point where the sides were exchanging names of players who could come back to Miami in return."
But the Marlins don't anticipate doing much in terms of trades until their ownership situation is resolved. A Major League Baseball committee is expected to review the pending sale of the club from Jeffrey Loria to a group led by Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter during Owners Meetings scheduled for Wednesday in Chicago.
A vote on the sale is expected in September, and the new ownership could take over in early October.
It is possible that the Marlins will entertain trading Stanton, and others of their young core, during the offseason. Stanton, who turns 28 in November, is set to have his salary jump from $14.5 million this year to $25 million in 2018, $26 million in '19 and $26 million in '20.
As part of Stanton's record, 13-year, $325 million deal he signed after the 2014 season, he can opt out after 2020.
In addition to his club-record number of homers, Stanton is batting .283 with 93 RBIs and 89 runs scored in 115 games this season.
