Stanton sets club record with 13 HRs in month

August 22nd, 2017

PHILADELPHIA -- 's new batting stance is toppling records while keeping the Marlins' slugger upright, balanced and on the attack.
Stanton's 46th homer of the season came in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park -- a 12-8 Marlins victory -- when he teed off on an fastball that caught too much plate. It was Stanton's13th homer of August, breaking a Marlins franchise record for most homers in a single month.
What makes the streak even more special is that Stanton had set and tied the previous record three times with 12 homers in May 2012, June 2015 and last month, July. Dan Uggla is the only other Marlin with 12 in a month (May 2008).
In his new closed-off stance, where Stanton's feet point toward the right-center-field gap, he lifted Nola's offering down the line in right and into the empty blue seats.
In his torrid streak of 13 homers in his last 17 games, Tuesday's homer was just the second to the opposite field.
