PHOENIX -- Home runs aren't the only milestones Giancarlo Stanton is accumulating. The All-Star right fielder on Friday night had a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, which tied Preston Wilson's franchise record of 121 that was set in 2000.
Stanton's latest team standard, however, came on a night the Marlins lost, 13-11, to the D-backs, which mathematically eliminated them from National League Wild Card contention.
Much of the attention for Stanton has been on his MLB-leading 56 home runs, and his pursuit of 60. On the night, the slugger went hitless in four at-bats, with two strikeouts.
"I thought our guys did a really good job of executing," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said.
His sacrifice fly came off hard-throwing reliever Archie Bradley. Per Statcast™, the ball carried 321 feet to right field, and easily scored Tomas Telis, who doubled and went to third on Dee Gordon's bunt single.
The Marlins have nine games remaining for Stanton to set the RBI record outright.
But he may be pushed by his teammate, Marcell Ozuna, who had two home runs and three RBIs on Friday. The All-Star left fielder now has 118 RBIs, fifth most in club history.

"Ozuna, we've talked about him a lot," Mattingly said. "A lot of guys had good at-bats. I think our guys really got after it."
Stanton entered Friday tied with Gary Sheffield, who had 120 RBIs in 1996, for second place in team history. Jose Cabrera is fourth on the RBI list with 119 in 2007.
"They're having great years," Gordon said of Stanton and Ozuna. "They've played well all season. That's why they're All-Stars. They deserve everything they're getting because they've definitely earned it."
