Giants taking conservative approach with Pence

July 21st, 2016

BOSTON -- The Giants remained ultra-careful Wednesday in prescribing 's activity during his injury rehabilitation stint, ordering the right fielder to limit his workload to pregame drills.
Pence, who's striving to overcome a right hamstring injury, has appeared in one of a possible four games with Triple-A Sacramento. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Pence still felt sore from being hit by a pitch in his initial game last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bochy issued more encouraging news about third baseman (left Achilles), who reported to the club's Spring Training complex in Arizona with right-hander (shoulder) to undergo sustained rehab while off-days Monday and Thursday interrupted the Giants' schedule this week.
Bochy reiterated that Duffy "looks like he's turning the corner," though no date has been scheduled for Duffy to start playing in Minor League rehab games.
Worth noting
• Second baseman may have taken a huge step forward in his recovery from a concussion by playing all nine innings in Sacramento's 10-4 victory at New Orleans on Wednesday. Panik, who was expected to play seven innings, went 2-for-5. He could rejoin the Giants during their weekend series against the New York Yankees.
