Giants' barrage of singles sinks D-backs
PHOENIX -- The Giants pounded out 14 hits, 13 of which were singles, as they clinched a series victory over the D-backs with an 8-4 win Saturday at Chase Field.
Jake Peavy allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings and picked up his first win of the season for the Giants, who won their fifth in a row. Buster Posey drove in four runs and Brandon Crawford knocked in a pair to lead the offensive attack.
"It was nice hitting at the top of the order," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, noting the first three hitters were on base nine times setting up a plethora of opportunities for Posey. "That's a good thing. You're usually going to put up runs when that happens."
D-backs starter Chase Anderson lasted 3 2/3 innings, his shortest outing of the year, and gave up seven runs on 10 hits. The right-hander has a 9.12 ERA over his last five starts. The D-backs lost their season-high fifth in a row.
"Obviously I'm trying to fix it because I don't want to prolong this," Anderson said. "I feel fine overall but I'm just not executing pitches."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Deuces wild: The Giants stranded 15 baserunners in their 6-5, come-from-behind, 12-inning victory Friday night, but that wasn't to happen again Saturday. In the third inning, the Giants scored four times on a pair of two-run singles, the first by Posey with the bases loaded and the second by Crawford with runners on second and third.

The Grateful Peavy: The right-hander chose the pregame clubhouse music and was playing vintage Grateful Dead. With one out in the seventh inning, Peavy was gone, gone and nothing was going to bring him back. Still, he recorded his first regular-season win since last Sept. 16 after missing most of the first half of the season dealing with back problems. Making it look easy: D-backs left fielder David Peralta tripled for the third time in seven at-bats when he drove a pitch from Peavy into the gap in left-center to lead off the second. It was Peralta's seventh triple of the year and his sixth in his last 14 games. He scored on the next play on a Chris Owings single that put the D-backs up, 1-0. Peralta later added a solo homer in the sixth.

"He just keeps going," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "He sees the other outfielder [Ender Inciarte] come up, and he doesn't want to sit down."
Welcome to the bigs: D-backs catcher Oscar Hernandez doubled down the left-field line in the fifth for the first hit of his Major League career. Hernandez, the team's Rule 5 Draft selection, was making his first career start after missing the first three months of the season due to injury.

Giants: Madison Bumgarner (9-5, 3.33 ERA) makes his first start since pitching for the National League in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Cincinnati in Sunday's 1:10 p.m. PT closer of a three-game series. In the All-Star Game, the left-hander pitched a scoreless fourth inning, allowing a hit and whiffing one American Leaguer.
D-backs: Patrick Corbin makes his third start since returning from Tommy John surgery in the series finale Sunday at 1:10 MST. In his last start, Corbin (1-1, 5.40 ERA) started with four scoreless innings but then allowed four runs on a trio of homers after that in a loss to the Mets on July 11.
