Arias calls hamstring strain 'not too bad'

LOS ANGELES -- Giants shortstop Joaquin Arias left Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second inning with a strained left hamstring.

Arias said that he injured himself while scoring the Giants' lone run in their 3-1 defeat. He hit into a fielder's choice, then scored from first base on Andres Torres' two-out double.

"Not too bad," Arias said, describing the extent of his injury. He estimated that he would need a couple of days to recover.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy described Arias' ailment as "mild" and noted that the utility man will be re-evaluated Tuesday.

Arias made his fifth start of the season at shortstop, temporarily giving the Giants another right-handed bat in the lineup against Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu. Brandon Crawford replaced Arias at shortstop.
