Cueto's 2 great starts net him NL weekly honors

Giants hurler dominates Padres, then stellar against Rockies

May 31st, 2016

Johnny Cueto's two stellar outings last week led to the Giants right-hander being named National League Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
Cueto was honored on Tuesday after shutting out the Padres on May 23 and holding the Rockies to one earned run in six innings Sunday. Cueto is 8-1 with a 2.31 ERA in his first 11 starts since joining the Giants in the offseason.
Cueto's gem against San Diego was his second consecutive complete game and third overall against the Padres. He allowed two hits, fanned six and walked none while leading the Giants to a 1-0 victory.

Cueto followed that up with a quality start at Coors Field, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out five in six innings in an 8-3 Giants win.
Cueto's other weekly award came in August 2014 while pitching for the Reds.
