Bumgarner to face hitters, including Parker

Ace to join Giants on road trip to Colorado; slugger progressing in rehab

June 14th, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants ace is scheduled to face hitters on Saturday in his first live pitching action since going on the disabled list April 21 with bruised ribs and a left shoulder AC sprain.
Bumgarner is slated to join the Giants on their upcoming road trip to Colorado, where he will face a group of hitters that also includes rehabbing outfielder (fractured right clavicle). Bumgarner threw a bullpen session before Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Royals, and he didn't report any setbacks.
"He's fine," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "He had a good bullpen, a good session."
The 27-year-old southpaw injured himself in a dirt bike accident earlier this season during an off-day in Colorado. In four starts this season, he's 0-3 with a 3.00 ERA, 28 strikeouts and four walks in 27 innings.
Bumgarner is eligible to come off the 60-day disabled list on Monday, though he is expected to be out until at least mid-July since the team is targeting five rehab starts before he returns to San Francisco.
