SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Jarrett Parker and Christian Arroyo homered for the San Francisco Giants, who also scored four runs after two were out with nobody on base in Tuesday night's fifth inning to defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 16-7.
Facing ex-Giant Jonathan Sanchez with a 5-4 lead, San Francisco prolonged the fifth and added a run on consecutive singles by Gregor Blanco, Kelby Tomlinson and Conor Gillaspie. Tomlinson stole third base and scored on a wild pitch. Tony Cingrani relieved Sanchez and yielded Grant Green's two-run triple.

Cincinnati narrowed the difference with three seventh-inning runs on Derek Law's bases-loaded wild pitch and Donald Lutz's two-run, pop-fly double. The Giants offset that rally with a five-run outburst in the bottom of the inning. After Arroyo's two-run, pinch-hit homer, Mac Williamson lashed an RBI double and scored on Rando Moreno's triple. Hak-Ju Lee singled home Moreno.

"The bullpen really struggled to get ahead, just a lot of 2-0, 3-1 counts, a lot of fastballs in those counts poorly located that were hit hard," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "A lot of hard contact tonight. ... We have to do a lot better than that."
The Reds hung three first-inning runs on Giants ace Madison Bumgarner. Jesse Winker, the organization's No. 1 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, stroked an RBI single and scored on a home run by Scott Schebler, who's competing for the left-field job.

"Honestly, everything felt really good," said Bumgarner, who worked three innings. "I felt like I made a lot of good pitches that got hit."

San Francisco responded with a pair of runs in its half of the first after loading the bases with nobody out. Fielder's-choice grounders by Parker and Blanco accounted for the scoring. The Giants inched ahead on Parker's two-run homer in the third before Brandon Allen doubled and scored in the fourth to forge a 4-4 tie.
Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani surrendered four runs and four hits in three innings.
"I think Spring Training is the only place I'll say I like to work through things," he said. "... I didn't mind having the bases loaded in the first inning. I kind of embraced it and you've got to work your way out of it."
Reds up next: The Reds return to Goodyear Ballpark to host the Rangers at 3:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Tim Melville will start vs. Texas. Relievers Ryan Mattheus, Caleb Cotham, Blake Wood and Zack Weiss will be available from the bullpen.
Giants up next: Right-hander Johnny Cueto is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut for the Giants as they confont Colorado on Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. PT in Scottsdale. Cueto, who signed a six-year, $130 million deal in the offseason, hadn't built enough arm strength to make his originally scheduled start last Saturday against Texas.
