Giants re-sign reliever Gutierrez to Minors contract

About a month after the Giants designated right-handed reliever Juan Gutierrez for assignment, they re-signed him to a Minor League contract, according to Baseball America.

The Giants attempted to send him to the Minors by designating him on Nov. 20, but Gutierrez elected free agency.

Gutierrez, 31, tossed 63 2/3 innings in 61 appearances with a 3.96 ERA for San Francisco in 2014; however, the club opted not to put him on its postseason roster.

Over parts of six Major League seasons with the Astros, D-backs, Royals, Angels and Giants, he is 7-17 with a 4.49 ERA over 286 1/3 innings with 241 strikeouts and 104 walks.
