Cain threw his perfect game on June 13, 2012 making him the first and only pitcher in the history of the Giants franchise to throw a perfect game. His perfect game was the 22nd in the history of Major League Baseball.

A first-round selection in the 2002 MLB Draft, Cain emerged as a central figure in the team’s World Series success during his 13-year pitching career, spent entirely with the Giants. The right-handed ace compiled 331 career starts, second only to Juan Marichal, and registered 1,694 strikeouts. Bearer of three World Championship rings, his four post-season victories included Game 2 of 2010 World Series (9-0 vs. Rangers). Cain is on the 2023 Hall of Fame ballot.
