Giants release non-roster invitee reliever Loe

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants announced Saturday that they released right-hander Kameron Loe under the terms of his contract.

Loe, a non-roster invitee who has spent all or part of nine seasons in the Major Leagues, was competing with Yusmeiro Petit and David Huff for a long-relief role. Loe's contract called for him to be placed on the 40-man roster by Sunday or given his release. Determining that Loe would not eclipse either Petit or Huff, the Giants let him go.

Loe, 32, was 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in five Cactus League appearances. He had not pitched since last Saturday. His departure trimmed the Giants' spring roster to 32 players, including 16 pitchers.
